Museum Saturday POP-UP workshop for kids with Ruth Sack
We all love pop-up books! As we turn the pages, the pictures jump off the page as three-dimensional experiences. Sometimes ingeniously intricate and complex, nevertheless all paper engineering (as it is called) starts with a few simple, basic techniques, which we can all easily learn: simple, but full of possibilities.
In this workshop we will introduce some of those basic techniques, for you to later build on in your own imaginative ways.
We will introduce the following Pop-up techniques –
- The Mouth-Fold
- The Counter-Fold
- The Upright V-Fold
- The Parallelogram
- The Loop
- The Jumping Figure
The participants won’t have time to explore all of these in full. But we will demonstrate them all, and then they will explore perhaps two or three each. This might involve creating scenarios to bring alive through the pop-up, through drawings and images.
THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR 8-11 YEARS.
All materials and an apron provided on the day.
