Come try your hand at printing with natural pigments you will source yourself from the museum grounds and a selection of pigments provided like liquid amber and grey eucalyptus. The workshop will start with a brief introduction to the background of natural dye and colours available for the day.

Join us for a cheerful drawing day with experimental cut and paste techniques as you complete your colourful paper cut-out artwork. Folk-art with the Rooster and Rabbit as main characters will be the focus. You may select an art style from inspirations provided by artists such as Jean Lurçat, Henri Matisse and JH Pierneef.

Layering the landscape workshop (8-10 years)

JH Pierneef is known for his Johannesburg Station Panels commission consisting of 32 paintings that depict unique scenes from the South African landscape. Through studying these monumental paintings, you will learn about the various elements that make up a landscape. By using this knowledge, create your own landscape using oil pastel.
