Born in the bustling port city of Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain on the southern tip of Africa, Carla Louw grew up with her head in the clouds and her toes in the sand where sunbirds flit among dew-dappled fynbos and the salty smell of the moody Atlantic Ocean fragrances the air.
A songbird through and through, this pint-sized dynamo had the privilege of growing up in a musical family, performing with her father at weddings and events from a young age and touring Tokyo as part of a music programme in her senior year of high school. This is where she got a taste of the buzz of big stages, which lead to the wonderful experience of becoming a finalist in SA Idols Season 4.
Since then, she’s performed with an astonishing array of amazing musicians and DJs from around the globe, taking to the stage with her trademark infectious energy and vivacious smile to bring effervescent vitally to jazz, blues, funk, swing, pop, and electro performances with her incredibly versatile vocals.
