Fynbos Through Artists’ Eyes – the creation of the Grootbos Florilegium

Join the Strauss & Co Art Club Winelands as Chris Lochner, curator and resident artist of Grootbos Florilegium, takes us on an evocative exploration of our rich floral heritage and the evolutionary adaptations of plants. He will trace the rich history of botanical art and highlight examples from South Africa’s own botanical heritage. Chris will also give us his personal insight into the creation of the Grootbos Florilegium.

The talk coincides with the Museum Saturday programme of the Rupert Museum and joins hands with the latest instalment of the Artist Spotlight Series featuring the work of Dr Marion Arnold (b1947). Arnold as an artist, historian and author contributed to the early recognition, inclusion, and celebration of botanical art on platforms such as the National Arts Festival in the early 1990s.
