The “Spogmuur”: Visitor Favourites
Showcased June – July 2026
Since 2019, the Rupert Museum has been building relationships with a select group of local NGOs and NPOs. In this Outreach Programme, learners from local communities are taught the basic elements and principles of art and design through tailored theoretical classes and practical workshops.
Between June and July works created by learners from Vision Afrika, The Sustainability Institute, Legacy Community Development, Anna Foundation and Green Door Project during term 1 and 2 was showcased. Each participating learner completed a series of creative worksheets and activities aimed at establishing a foundation in visual literacy. After completion of the theoretical component, learners visited the museum for an afternoon of fun and hands-on application of the knowledge gained, during which they completed a practical component.
Celebrating their creations, we proudly exhibited the artworks of the Grade R to Grade 6 learners. Visitors were encouraged to vote for their favourites with some rotations even inviting the viewer to draw and interact around the creations. From clouds, pirate ships and castles to more characters added, the creatures came alive in the scenes created.
Thank you to everyone who visited to cast their vote. Now, we proudly announce the Visitor Favourites. Learners from these different institutions visited the museum for a special prizegiving on Saturday, 15 August, where they each received an art hamper and certificate.
