Creative Clay Play with Clay Atelier (18yrs+)

Slow down, get your hands dirty, and rediscover the joy of making.
This hands-on clay workshop is an invitation to play, explore and create with one of the world’s oldest materials. Guided by Jade and May from Clay Atelier, you’ll learn three fundamental handbuilding techniques: pinching, slab building and coiling, to create your own unique ceramic pieces.
This workshop celebrates curiosity, creativity and the simple pleasure of working with your hands. Whether you’re completely new to clay or have some experience, you’ll be guided through the process with demonstrations, individual support and plenty of room for personal expression.
Participants will create one to three small ceramic pieces. Expect a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where creativity comes first and every piece tells its own story.
At the end of the workshop, you will have created several items, all hand-built. Unfortunately, not all the steps can be done in the same day, as the drying and firing of your pieces will take place off-site. Your items will be available for collection from the museum within 4weeks from the workshop.
All materials, protective wear, and firing of items produced in the workshop is included in the price. You will only be required to collect your pieces from Stellenbosch at your own expense. Image courtesy of Clay Atelier.
