La Motte
The La Motte Museum not only offers displays depicting aspects of the Rupert family, focusing on Dr. Anton and Mrs. Huberte Rupert and the musical career of their daughter Hanneli Rupert, but also features the history of La Motte and its magnificently renovated buildings, with a brief review of Cape Dutch architecture.
Permanent host to the heritage collection of Jacob Hendrik Pierneef, the museum also presents other temporary exhibitions. Currently, guests can enjoy the exhibition ‘Celebrating the love of Art – a personal selection by Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg’. As part of the fiftieth jubilee of La Motte’s Rupert ownership, La Motte owner Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg invites art-lovers to an exhibition that shares some favourite works from her collection as well as the family collection and allows insight into her love for art.
The museum is the departure point of the Historic Walk and Sculpture Walk, conducted educational tours of respectively, the Cape-Dutch buildings, sculptures on the estate and the estate’s Pierneef associations.
