Lost and Found – workshop with sculptor Max Kuijers (9-12yrs)

As a sculptor, Kuijers works primarily with wood and found objects, such as old mechanical parts, to create interesting and whimsical characters. These characters are unique and filled with stories, but he realised that most people have little to no experience with sculpting. This may be because sculptural materials often require plenty of space, power tools and expertise to manipulate, especially for things like bronze, steel or clay.

With this introductory workshop Kuijers will provide you the opportunity to create a found object sculpture of your own using a modified (and safe) version of his workflow. Within the 2-hour session you can expect to come away with your own unique character filled with quirks, emotions and a story. This will manifest a new appreciation for the experience and journey of creating and building something from scratch.

The freedom and ground-breaking movement of not sticking to the traditional way of sculpting can also be seen in the latest rotation of CASTED – Scultura italiana on display in Gallery 1 featuring the post war work of Italian Modern Sculptors.

All materials and a snackpack will be provided. Please advise us of any dietary requirements when making your bookings and we will do our best to accommodate that.
