Museum Saturday Clay Works with ceramicist Charlene Barker (kids workshop)
Would you like to try your hand at creating your own ceramic pieces from scratch? Well we have the perfect activity for 8 – 12 year olds. Join ceramicist Charlene Barker as she talks through the basics of working clay into your own porcelain pinch pot. Amongst some of South Africa’s most famous artists, you will also create your own composition on a plate, mug or bowl by taking inspiration from the artworks on display.
Turning clay into functional objects takes more than a day, so all the creating will take place within the exhibition Nature Morte – The Still from Life but all firing of ceramic pieces to happen offsite. Collection of the two pieces each participant created will be available for collection by mid-June 2021 from the museum.
All materials and aprons provided, a R100 booking fee secures your seat.
